We've got some news we're pretty chuffed about: Goldies Bake Shop has won the Family Business category at the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards for August 2026.
It's the kind of win that means more than a trophy on the counter. This is a business that's been in the same family since 1944, and having that recognised by the community we've spent decades baking for is something else entirely.
82 Years in the Making
Goldies opened its doors in 1944. Since then, the bakery has been passed down through the family, generation to generation, and the fourth generation has now started working alongside the rest of the team.
Four generations. One bakery. The same commitment to doing things properly that it started with, just a lot more people to feed these days.
What This Award Recognises
The Family Business Award is sponsored by the Queensland Department of Customer Service, Open Data, Small and Family Business. It recognises long-standing family owned and operated businesses that have seen generations of family continue and grow their business legacy: looking at how family is woven into the business itself, from day-to-day practices and culture through to how responsibility is shared and passed down. To even be eligible, a business has to be operated by more than one generation.
For us, that's the whole story. Four generations in, the same values our great-grandparents started with are still running the show, good food, made properly, for the people on the Gold Coast we get to call our regulars.
