How It Works
1. Choose your cake type using the buttons below.
3. Build your cake choosing, size, icing, sides and filling.
3. When you reach the cake design section, select "Upload Own Image" from the design options.
4. Upload your photo or drag and drop into the box (JPEG or PNG).
5. Want a personalised message on your cake as well? Select 'Yes' to message and where possible, we'll incorporate your message into the image design rather than writing it directly on the cake.
6. We bake it fresh in house, just the way you ordered.

What Photos Work Best for a Photo Cake?
Any image you love can be printed on your cake — birthdays, weddings, graduations, baby showers, or just a favourite memory. For the best results, upload a high-resolution JPEG or PNG. The sharper and clearer your photo, the more stunning it'll look on your cake. Avoid blurry, dark, or heavily filtered images, as these can affect print quality.
Is the Photo Safe to Eat?
Absolutely. Every photo cake from Goldies Bake Shop is printed using food-safe edible inks onto an edible icing sheet — no plastic, no film, nothing to peel off. It looks incredible, tastes like a hint of vanilla sugar, and is completely safe for the whole family. Just slice and serve.
Where Is the Photo Placed on the Cake?
Your image is printed on an edible icing sheet and placed centred on top of the cake for full visual impact. It's the first thing people see when the box opens — and yes, it always gets a reaction.
What Sizes Are Available?
We offer photo cakes in a range of sizes to suit any occasion and guest count — from a 6 inch round (perfect for intimate celebrations) right through to large rectangle cakes that can feed 100+ people. Size options are available to select when you place your order.
How Far in Advance Do I Need to Order?
Photo cakes require a minimum of 48 hours' notice. If you're ordering an allergy-friendly or allergen-free variety, please allow at least 5 days so we can prepare it safely and with care. Need it sooner? Give us a call — we'll always try our best to help.
Do You Edit or Retouch Photos Before Printing?
We may make minor adjustments such as cropping to fit the cake size or small tweaks to improve print clarity. We don't offer full photo editing, so it's worth sending us your best image from the start. If you're unsure whether your photo will print well, send it through before ordering and we'll let you know.
Can I Use a Photo That Already Has Text on It?
Yes — personalised photo cakes with names, dates, or messages already in the image are popular choices. Just make sure any text is large, bold, and high-contrast so it remains clear and readable once printed on the cake.
Will the Colours Look Exactly Like My Photo?
They'll be very close, but edible ink printing can vary slightly from a screen or standard photo print. Bright, well-lit, high-contrast images produce the most vibrant results. Heavily dark, shadowed, or low-saturation photos may appear softer in colour on the finished cake.
How Do I Get My Photo Cake?
All orders are click and collect — simply place your order online, select your collection date, and preferred pick up location at check out. We'll have everything ready and waiting for you.
